40 Favorite Characters

This is a list of my 40 favorite characters from various films. They are listed in no particular order.

1. Rupert Pupkin- King of Comedy - Robert De Niro/ This has to be my favorite De Niro role. Pupkin is so pathetic and disillusioned it's uncomfortably perfect.
2. Michel Poiccard-Breathless- Jean-Paul Belomondo/ Bogart obsessed, car stealing, chain smoking anti-hero is perfect in this Godard classic.
3. Rob Gordon- High Fidelity- John Cusack/Music lover and bad with relationships that can make an excellent mixtape. I can relate (the music lover and mixtape part.
4. Joe Gideon- All That Jazz-Roy Schedier/It's Showtime! One my heroes Bob Fosse's alleged autobiography.
5. Det.Virgil Tibbs- In The Heat of the Night- Sideny Poitier/ Give the man the respect he deserves.
6. Chris Chambers- Stand by Me-River Phoenix-A natural leader portrayed by a natural and missed talent.
7. Rizzo Ratso- Dustin Hoffman- Midnight Cowboy/ A loyal misguided loser.
8. Jason "Furious" Styles- Boyz in the Hood- Laurence Fishburne/One of the best stern but fair movie dads.
9. Tracy Flick - Election- Resse Witherspoon/ Some want to win at any cost.
10. Santino " Sonny" Corleone- The Godfather- James Cann/The Corleone family resident hot head paid dearly for his actions.
11. Charlie Kaufman/Donald Kaufman-Adapation- Nicolas Cage/Two great characters one man.
12. Private Leonard " Gomer” Pyle- Full Metal Jacket- Vincent D'Onofrio/ You root for him,loathe him, and then feel pity for him.
13. Jeff Spicoli- Fast Times at Ridgemont High- Sean Penn/ The best stoner slacker you'll ever meet.
14. Troy - Crooklyn- Zelda Harris/ Sometimes you grow up faster than you want to. Great actress shame she's not in more.
15. R.P. McMurphry-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest-Jack Nicholson/Played by his own rules to the end.
16. Hawkeye Pierce- M*A*S*H-Donald Sutherland/Sometimes pranks and distilled cocktails are way not feel the pain.
17. Chance- Being There - Peter Sellers/ Sometimes being simple is good.
18. Johnny Lawrence- The Karate Kid- William Zabka/ Never showed mercy.
19. Jeffery Lebowski- (The Dude) -The Big Lebowski- Jeff Bridges/Even after mistaken identity The Dude abides
20. Dignan- Bottle Rocket- Owen Wilson/Dream big and stick to the plan.
21. Alvy Singer- Annie Hall- Woody Allen/Neurotic is the new sane.
22. Seymour- Ghost World- Steve Buscemi/Sometimes it's nice to have your life interrupted.
23. Mookie- Do the Right Thing- Spike Lee/When you're carrying Brooklyn on your shoulders you gotta have it together.
24.Sal- Dog Day Afternoon- John Cazale/ One of my favorite partners.
25. Richard Sherman- Seven Year Itch- Tom Ewell/ If it was seven years with his lovely neighbor things would be different .
26. Jeremy-The Secret of NIMH/Dom Deluise/Klutzy but trustworthy.
27. Brian Johnson- The Breakfast Club-Anthony Michael Hall/ We'll spare this nerd a wedgie.
28. Photojournalist- Apocalypse Now - Dennis Hopper/He may be the most sane person out here in this crazy war.
29. John Blutarsky- Animal House- John Belushi/ It's amazing what you learn in college.
30.Mouth.- Goonies- Corey Feldman/ Smart alecs and Goonies never die!
31.Corky St. Clair- Waiting for Guffman- Christopher Guest/This guy is a star in his own world that I want to live in.
32. Mr.Potato Head- Toy Story 1,2&3- Don Rickles/Better than being a hockey puck.
33. Beetle Juice -Beetle Juice- Michael Keaton/I'd say his name three times.
34. Thoronton Melon- Back to School- Rodney Dangerfield/He could have paid for passing grades.
35. Herman Blume- Rushmore- Bill Murray/Still looking for his Rushmore.
36. The Grinch - How The Grinch Stole Christmas- Boris Karloff/You're much better than Scrooge.
37. Cousin Eddie - The Vacation series-Randy Quaid/The man makes his own tomato ketchup!
38. Curt- American Graffiti-Richard Dreyfuss/ Winning the Moose Lodge scholarship isn't that great.
39. Oscar Madison- The Odd Couple-Walter Matthau/I could put with up this guy.
